Hurricane Resource Guide

After Hurricane Helene dealt a devastating storm surge to Davis Islands, we’d like to offer this resource guide to neighbors.  Feel free to share this link dicivic.org/help and let us know of any resources you recommend. Click each arrow:

Short Term Housing

  • Visit Airbnb.org to find volunteer hosts after storms.
  • Contact VRBO & AirBNB hosts requesting a longer-term furnished stay.
  • Zillow and Apartments.com are the best resources for “commercially operated” housing, and you can search for “Furnished.”
  • Facebook Marketplace and Craigslist occasionally have postings, and it’s worth continuing to check on different days. Be wary of “pay before showing” scams.
  • Ave Living in Downtown Tampa has short-term furnished rental units.
  • Extended Stay hotels such as SpringHill Suites, InTown Suites, WoodSpring Suites, and Extended Stay America.
  • Ask traditional hotels (such as Hampton Inn) if they offer longer stays for a discounted nightly rate.
  • Search Google Maps and Perplexity.ai for “Furnished Rentals in Tampa.” Look near Raymond James Stadium, Seffner, & Brandon. Most options in South Tampa are either damaged or already taken.
  • Contact Metropolitan Ministries and Salvation Army for temporary housing.
