Call to Action:

Call your State Senator and House Representative and ask that CS/HB 1159 be corrected. This bill signed by Gov. Desantis in July 2019 allows property owners to remove trees on their property that are deemed hazardous by an arborist or landscape architect of their choice.  Ask that the bill be modified to address the loss of community trees as a result of arborists and landscape firms providing removal at the owners’ convenience:

  • Proper notice should be given to neighbors
  • Competent evidence should be posted of tree evaluation.
  • Trees in right-of-ways should be subject to notification & subject to city arborist evaluation.
