Wastewater Presentation:

On March 3, 2026, the Davis Islands Civic Association invited Eric Weiss, Director of the Wastewater Department for the City of Tampa, to meet with residents and discuss the odor issues emanating from the wastewater treatment plant.

During the meeting, Mr. Weiss gave a presentation addressing neighborhood concerns and outlining the Cityโ€™s projected plans to upgrade and modernize the wastewater treatment plant in order to reduce and better control odors affecting the Davis Islands community. His presentation included an overview of the proposed improvements as well as a projected timeline for completion of the upgrades.

Tampa City Councilman Bill Carlson also attended the meeting to confirm that the City is supporting efforts to improve and update the wastewater treatment plant. Residents had the opportunity to ask questions and share concerns about the ongoing odor issues.

The Civic Association board collected the names of specific streets experiencing the most frequent odor complaints so that this information can be passed along to Mr. Weiss and his team.

The board also recognized Mr. Weiss for his transparency and his efforts to move the project forward. Mr. Weiss asked residents for their patience as he works through the necessary approvals from City Council and continues coordinating with the engineering firm that will be handling the planned updates to the facility.

A link to Mr. Weissโ€™s PowerPoint presentation is provided below for residents who would like to review the details of the proposed improvements and projected timeline.

This year's Annual Easter Egg Hunt was a resounding success, bringing together over 100 children and their families for an afternoon full of laughter, excitement, and springtime fun.The grounds were blanketed with thousands of colorful eggs, sending little hunters darting in every direction in search of their share of the bounty. You could feel the excitement as children discovered the eight coveted golden eggs, each one hiding a special prize sure to make any Easter basket a little more memorable. Shout ouKiki's Sweet Vibesweet Davis Island Lifesland Life, who both supplied the prizes found in the golden eggs. The turnout was a wonderful reminder of what makes our neighborhood so special: a community that shows up for one another and creates lasting memories together. From the smallest toddlers chasing after their first egg to the older kids strategizing their routes, smiles were everywhere.A heartfelt thank you goes out to all the volunteers and civic association members who worked hard to organize and set up the event. Your dedication made the morning truly magical for so many families. We look forward to making next year's hunt even bigger and better. ... See MoreSee Less
